The circular gateway of the portal darkens, creating what seems to have become a swirling vortex. Papers swirl around the room. Serenity's hair is flapping wildly in my face.
"What do you mean, unplug it?!" Pete shouts over the buzzing. "Don't send him towards that!" The lights are dimming, sparks are flying from the vortex, creating a blinding light emanating from it. The temperature drops, as if the portal is absorbing all the light and heat in the room. Right now I'm grateful for my three sweatshirts, walking up to the portal, my arm in my face to protect me from the harsh winds and blinding light. I reach out to the front to see part of my hand slowly...dissolving?!
"CHRIS!" comes a voice, seeming to fade away immediately.

I mean I should be the one with questions, after all this rather unknown potentially dangerous guy just somehow jumps to my terrace and instead of giving an apology looks at me with those questionable eyes.
