Love Him
Mature, fifteen year old Carmen receives an unexpected surprise when she finds out her close friend - tall, grey-eyed, Josh - likes her. Despite the surprise, she can't deny the chemistry between them and so both teens agree to pursue more outside of their friendhsip. As things start off sweet, they turn a little sour as Carmen deals with the fact that Joshua has lots of unresolved emotional issues caused from a painful past. Meanwhile, Carmen is quite the opposite and deals with trust and committment issues. Carmen wants to be there for Josh and help him, but she doesn't know how when she can't even figure herself out. "Realistically Carmen, we haven't been acting as 'just friends.'" He got louder. "In fact, for the past week or so, I've been considering you to be my girlfriend." He paused. "Is that wrong of me?" I sighed inwardly. "No. It's just, I think-" I searched for my words. "I think we're better off where we started. As two people who like each other and vibe well, but without a title to complicate things." I couldn't figure out whether I was just saying this as an excuse not to be with him. My mind was jumbled. "When I saw you I fell in love, and you smiled because you knew." he whispered softly. I bit back a smile and huffed. "Well technically I didn't know. I just smiled to be nice." He rolled his eyes and smirked. "Always have to ruin my moments, don't you Little Nali'?" It was my turn to roll my eyes, "Stop calling me little, you're only a year older." I crossed my arms over my chest and tried to straighten up a bit. He chuckled, putting his finger to my forehead and pushing me down. "Calm down tiger, " he put his hand on my waist and pulled me towards him, "you'll always be my little Nali', forever and always." I looked up into his eyes, my arms still across my chest, i finally let my guard down. I lifted my right hand, making a fist and sticking out my pinky finger. "Pinky Promise?" I whispered. He lifted his hand and did the same, wrapping his pinky with mine. "I pinky promise Analilia." I shivered, not to sound like a pervert, but I love when he says my name. I am a reader of crime novels and hard science fiction almost exclusively, and yet this story, which I have been writing for a long time, is a love story, I can't explain it even to myself. The characters will have to work through hardship and evolve to be able to surrender to the magical things around them and the flow of the universe and the love of other people. This story still is a work in progress, it has holes and it is to be continued

I never thought about love or who would be my first everything. It just never crossed my mind, until him. He made me think off falling in love, he made me dream about how it would feel to be in his arms forever.
