There was always something so fascinating about the dragon statue guarding the castle gates. Something that intrigued and drew in every person's attention. The grey stone had intricate details on the scales, winding up high into the air and towering over the huge gates. A face of rage etched through the furious eyes and short, yet razor sharp, teeth protruding from its mouth open in what would have produced a thunderous roar. One clumsy yet rare mistake made the stone return to scales and then into skin.

Thump - a faint vibration in the earth followed a gust of wind. Four dinosaur-foot-shaped depressions appeared in the grass. Further away, past the depressions, goal posts and trees blurred as if hidden behind slightly translucent glass. Then, it wasn't so translucent. A shape solidified from thin air, slowly, condensing into a shimmering mist. The legs came first, trunks like small trees reaching up to muscular shoulders, perhaps twice his height. The body manifested, enormous, easily the length of a full-sized bus from tail tip to chest. Wings came into view, curling around the body at a distance, like a webbed exoskeleton growing in time lapse. Finally, the head appeared - horns and nostrils and teeth like daggers - connected to the chest by a long neck. It wore silver like a second skin, as if coated in polished scalemail - everything except its spines, claws and other bony protrusions. Like a broken mirror, it reflected the moon and stars. All in all, it was a nightmarish beast, one that in no way, shape or form resembled Wren...or any human for that matter. He took a step back. *** Elias, a professional thief, trains a strange girl named Wren. What will happen when he learns she's attracted to him and when he discovers she can transform into a dragon? What will happen if she ever reveals her darkest secret?
