Merida, Rapunzel, and Hiccup get dragged into it when the bad guys accidentally stumble into Merida's world and take Merida and Hiccup, and accidentally make a portal to Rapunzel. But the more the merrier! The five are taken to The Chamber of Dreams, an invention of Pitch's. It has various isolation rooms where Pitch's black sand creates things and dampens their powers, crumbling their resolve and spirit. They are put through they're worst nightmares, find each other, and have to put aside their differences and work together to escape.
