Mercy be on the side of the poor fellow that falls into the unforgiving snare of love, a shallow and cruel mistress. Such a thing can build up and destroy a man, often simultaneously.
As is the fate of our poor young hero, the naive Duke Edward of Northborough, another man stricken by grief, thinking himself to have found solace in the arms of another, only to ultimately be destroyed by her. Pray for this man, for God alone can change the fate of such a fool as Edward; perhaps not even He. Only time will tell.
