He laughs at my crude and irritated comment, and for a second, I mistake it as heaven's choir. 

It was definitely my own naivety.

How could I have ever thought that I could have the reputation that I own, and have him too?

Sully was an emotional laugher, at least, that best describes it. His eyes would brim with entertained tears with every chuckle.
But he'd sometimes try to hide it, with his face tucked into his elbow across from me during class, in an effort to uphold his rep. 

A registered outcast shouldn't act that way with someone they refused to be known to be friends with.

"You're right, I'm saving it for your sister later tonight. I would buy her dinner first, of course." He would taunt back with a wink when the laughing subsided, and I had managed to stop myself from watching him to tell him to 'fuck right off'.

Not as if this place would ever allow us our solace, and he knew I would do anything to fool this town.

"God, you're the nicest asshole I have ever met."
