When lab rat 601 starts to piece together and suspect the reality of her surroundings thanks to a fellow patients rampage, world-wide Scientist Sabah further confines her precious experiment from the rest of the lab, believing her intelligence will undoubtedly remove question from 601 herself.

But when 601 begins to think like the real Varin does, she and Lunatic escape the lab to live lives they've forgotten they've owned previously before as they adventure through parallel universes and lands of many sorts, all the while losing who they once were.
