In een compleet andere wereld, duizenden jaren verder, is alles anders.

Hun DNA wordt volledig onderzocht en zo ver mogelijk gekopieerd. Om de overlevingskansen van de mens nog meer te vergroten, krijgen de aangepaste mensen extra bescherming, voedsel en onderdak. Ze worden compleet gescheiden van de rest van de bevolking en als 'beter' beschoudt.
Éen van deze mensen is Layla. Ze is een lief, maar toch ook sterk meisje, dat zal blijven vechten voor waar ze in gelooft, wat er ook gebeurt. Lucas, de zoon van de leider van de plek waar ze woont, heeft een zekere interesse in haar, maar die is niet wederzijds. En wat gebeurt er als Layla op missie gaat buiten de veilige muren van het kamp?
