Post season 7 Rory said not right now to Logan's graduation proposal and he said Ok. She does a little stint on the campaign trail but eventually settles in Palo Alto with Logan and their avocado tree. Things have been tight financially Rory can't find a job and Logan is still recovering from the mistakes he's made. On top of that its roeys first Christmas away from Lorelai. But it's Christmas and things aren't always as bad as they seem.
It's a oneshot so it's short but if I ever have time maybe I'll come back and fill in the blanks
