'Some people think money is pointless, or stupid. It arouses the monster of greed and jealousy in others. And in still more, money is one of the most important things. For me, it's different. For me, money is literally my lifeline. Because in my world, when you finally run out of money, your life ends.' For seventeen year-old Layla Jackson, a life of crime is all she's ever known. Her parents are dead, robbed before she turned three and left with nothing - not even an escape from the authorities. And now, she is alone; not an ally to turn to, let alone a friend. When money is your lifeline, and the spending of your last precious dollar signs your death warrant, there is no such thing as a safe place, because, as we all know, people will do everything they can to live longer. And when money is involved, life quickly becomes even more dangerous.
