Thirty-nine year old Howard Perkins is a public relations agent living on Long Island and working in New York City. As a divorced man nearing forty years old he makes an observation about himself, and other 'thirty-somethings', that the end of the thirties brings panic that manifests in uncharacteristic behaviors. For Howard, his friends, and his old band mates, those behaviors run the gamut of everything from the reunion of a rock band, a visit to a nudist resort, a visit to a peep show, and even falling in love.

Disinherited trust fund baby becomes an escort specializing in helping older women live their wildest romantic fantasies. (MATURE) CHASTAIN DEVILLIER, 20, is the loose cannon in a wealthy family descended from two very long and very aristocratic British and French bloodlines. As the story begins, he has spent the last year at what we Americans would call a "party school" in Tucson, Arizona, having dropped out of two of the most prestigious Ivy League colleges in the country--and broken up with his latest love. He's both beautiful and brilliant. But he's a GenZ Holden Caulfield who finds academia a crashing bore and his partying peers insufferably inane. Frustrated by Chastain's inability to find himself, his British father has frozen his trust funds and bank accounts and reduced his monthly living expenses to a paltry sum as a "wake up call." Chas, however, discovers a very unusual side hustle to supplement his meager allowance. After a wild night with a feisty older woman--and with the help of a Web cam star friend--he becomes an escort specializing in clients of "a certain age." It's an occupation he thoroughly enjoys. The wisdom of the women he meets and the diverse cast of characters he encounters in this wild new world intrigues and excites him. Until he falls for CIELO SANDOVAL a stunning, street-smart young asylum-seeker whose dedication to caring for the homeless and less fortunate forces him to rethink this risqué career. And whose narrow escape from two cartel-connected ICE agents hellbent on deporting her back to Honduras sends him on the most meaningful--and dangerous--adventure of his young life.

Samara comes closer to me, now studying my face. Her eyes are wandering all over my facial features. I contort my face in confusion at her weird stares, "Umm, hey--" "Listen, can you wear my wedding dress and be a bride at my place?" She questions. Ec- excuse me? I give her a long stare. I think she is joking and would burst into laughter any minute...but she doesn't. Her face has no trace of humour. "What?" I quirk up my brow. "You have to be a bride at my place." She repeats with no hesitation. Cold shiver trickles through me. ... 18 years old Sanaya Frances, grew up in an orphanage, is finding ways to earn more to gather money for her college tuition fee. She gets a chance to work as a house cook for Hobsons - one of the richest families in New York City. At the job interview she finds that Hobsons's second son, Ashar Hobsons is getting married within a month. On the wedding day, the bride disappears, asks Sanaya to be at her place until she returns. The real bride hides Sanaya's face with a veil, so that no one can recognize the different face. She comes back, but it was too late. The rings were already EXCHANGED. 25 years old, Ashar Hobsons, a successful businessman, decides to marry his childhood friend, who is also a daughter of close business ally. On a wedding, he is utterly unaware that the bride behind the veil who is taking marriage vows with him is not his fiancee, but a new, young cook. Caroline is 16 when she suddenly decides that her perfectly normal and loving home life is absolutely and completely intolerable. Suddenly moving out of home in 1988 is the beginning of a 13 year journey. As the journey continues, the passage of time has no significance. Always with the ability to find the humorous side, each address marks another chapter in Caroline's life and is the backdrop for the people she meets and the events that occur. Accommodation varies from unheated rooms and houses with wheel-less cars jacked-up outside to Regency flats and rural cottages. Transportation means vary from a single use bicycle, to Betsa and the faithful Dwanetta. Flatmates vary from a lovely Brummie and a singing nun to a dying dog, a ginger laminator, a 3 nippled geek and an accidental spell with a local drugs baron. Events vary from harbouring boarding schoolgirls, exercising racehorses, the occasional rave, trading in shampoo and marmite on toast to looking for stolen laundry, going undercover and self-defence with a hockey stick. Jobs vary from not having one to shop work, bartending and au pair through to getting a toe on the corporate ladder. There is infatuation, and love from various sources so there is also disappointment, and breakups by varying means and for various reasons. Education varies from a bit of formal study to a large dollop of the University of Life. The latter being the real reason Caroline left home in the first place - to grow up in her own way through her own experiences with no-one else to blame but herself and the interesting hand that life deals along the way. Caroline moves home 19 times, only to find that the 20th move takes her to the last place she ever expected to be. Back where she started. Things aren't always as they seem...
