Violet Chase has done everything she can to keep her and her little brother, Ean, out of the system. They have a dark past and were thrown out of the house at very young ages. Violet has done many things to ensure their safety, include drug dealing for a gang to get some extra cash. But one night when Violet delivers her boss's portion of money to him, she finds him drunk and he forces himself on her. A cop comes and saves her just in the nick of time, but what happens when she refuses to answer any of his questions?
"Hey, easy there. I just want to talk." The bastard says like he's trying to tame a wild animal.
I push Ean behind me and take out my pocket knife, hoping to scare the bitch a little.
"No, you want to take us to some orphanage or foster home where no one will care for us." I replied with venom in my voice.
Just then, another car pulls up into the driveway and the cop looks behind him to see who the new guy is. I took that as my chance to scoop Ean into my arms and run like hell, right past the cop. But before I could make it any farther, a boy about my age gets out of the car and stops me by pointing a gun at me. I slowly set Ean behind me and hold up my hands.
