After Laxina Lath pulls a desperate stunt to extent her life span, the lives of 100s of millions are put on hold. The Westerners await for the heat of summer to come, but it never does. A machine holds the Earth in place, giving the Eastern Hemisphere an eternal summer while the West freezes over. 500 years later, the Easterners continue evolve and carry on with their lives, unaware that the machine was only set to freeze for half a century. The "Great Thaw" results in a Western Hemisphere trying to catch up on half a century's worth of technology, and an Eastern Hemisphere bracing itself for winter and the threat of their society breaking apart. While each hemisphere tries to get along on its own, neither is doing very well. Should the Westerners hurry up and give up their countries to the Eastern Union for their resources and protection? Or maybe its time the Eastern Union learned a thing or two about opinions.
