One of the favourite lessons reading books has taught me is that you're never alone, not alteast in thoughts and words. There are others who think like you, feel like you and react like you. It's like that sometimes, our unspoken thoughts are the bridges that connect us, even though we might be miles apart. And so, I've written them down in the hope that there are many out there in this world who would be willing to walk these bridges leading to me-the real, raw and unhidden self I am- my heart and mind and soul. The Words I Never Said // A Collection of Essays
Dear Friend, I have so much to tell you. I feel the words tickling the insides of my lungs, the symbols pile up, I sneeze, and they flock into a clumsy-looking snow sculpture (sorry for the unsettling image). I then begin to introduce those words to the world, to you, syllable by syllable. Like little children, they explore the emptiness of paper, and soon all the universal truths blur as I search for explanations of time and space. Where are we? What are we doing? Using emotions as my ink I tried putting into words the unspeakable thoughts that torment my mind until written. Most of these writings were born from loneliness. Paint Us Gray: Part 1
Rejection. Betrayal. Heartbreak. Grief. Unfortunately, we've all had a swallow, some more than others, of this bitter brew. This is just a sliver of my chapter that is a part of this world's grand narrative; it's about one person's toe dipping into the brokenness of the Earth, and the ripples, waves, tsunamis it created in her life. A couple of months ago, while consoling a friend grieving the loss of a relationship, he asked me a question no one had ever asked me before. A very vulnerable and powerful question. I had been sharing some of my own similar experiences with him when he messaged me that life changing question, "And, what did you see at the top of the mountain?" While his words were just letters on a screen, I could see the hunger in his eyes, hear the desperation in his voice, sense the overwhelming thirst of a person climbing up an incredibly steep and treacherous mountain. Whisper of Silence |✓
Trapped. Surrounded on all sides by an overpowering barrier visible only to you. A barrier consisting of your thoughts, your dreams, your hopes, separating you from the rest of the world. Thoughts struggling to escape, the memories vivid in your head. You're trying to push back the flood of emotion, trying to break down that wall that's separating you from the judgement that awaits you at the other side. Your fears captivate you and morph you into a new person entirely. Surrounded on all sides and breaking into cold perspiration. Enveloping you is that same fear, gripping at your heart. You stand still hoping for the storm to back down, hoping for another chance. Sooner or later you're faced with reality and you'll know there's no turning back.
