Esterville, Illinois is one of the safest towns on the planet. Almost ninety-nine million people go there to buy clothes, read paperback novels, and drink coffee from warm cafes.

But in spite of its quiet charm, many ghosts, vampires, and various monsters come here to roam across the murky floors of alleyways.

As most Esterville citizens tend to look away from legends the only person who sees supernatural monsters, is a sixteen-year-old boy named Oliver Harper.

Now, he is not an ordinary child: Oliver hangs out with his vampire best friend, Amelia Parker, reads gruesome novels, and spends most of his time studying cemeteries.

With his single mother, Caitlin Harper, working in the Esterville Bookstore, Oliver uses his trusty sixth sense to help ghosts and supernatural monsters who have problems with the living.

But as he sees a ghost of a construction worker, harassing his ex-girlfriend, it is going to take a lot of wits, bravery, and sarcasm to help him move on...

At 37, Cambry Keller has spent her entire life feeling as if something was just a bit... off. Her job, her relationships, her home-all perfectly ordinary, yet there was always a nagging feeling deep within her that she was meant for something more, something extraordinary. But nothing ever changed, and soon, she resigned herself to the quiet monotony of her life. Until the fall after she turned 37. In the span of a single autumn, everything Cambry thought she knew about herself-and the world around her-was turned upside down. Strange dreams begin to haunt her nights, filled with forgotten symbols and places she's never been, yet feels intimately familiar. Her body begins to change in subtle, unexplainable ways: heightened senses, a newfound connection to the natural world, and the inexplicable ability to influence the elements. As the leaves fall, Cambry uncovers long-buried family secrets that reveal her true heritage: a powerful bloodline with ties to an ancient mystical order. The dormant magic within her awakens, and Emily finds herself thrust into a world of enchantment, danger, and ancient forces vying for control. Her journey of self-discovery leads her to allies and enemies, both human and supernatural, as she grapples with the powerful abilities she never knew she possessed. But as her powers grow, so too does a looming threat. Cambry must learn to control the magic that now courses through her veins, or risk not only her life, but the fate of the world. Ghostbusters meets X-Men in a creepy urban fantasy adventure! "A pocket watch. She bought a pocket watch and it killed her. And I thought how we died was bad." As far as apartments go, roommates Stella and Charlotte "Bronte" believe theirs to be just fine. Sure, they hate taking the stairs up to the third floor, especially after grocery shopping. And yes, the apartment staff could be a bit nicer. But all things considered, it's not a bad place to live. Until the sudden chills begin, seizing them at inexplicable times. Until Bronte starts to see shadows out of the corner of her eye and Stella begins to hear voices too close, sighs too near to be the culprit of paper-thin walls. Century-old ghosts Oliver and Cyril have seen what happens to mortals forced, unknowingly, to spend time in their company. For the unlucky few, their perceptions change, allowing them to perceive the departed. And not everyone, they know, are strong enough to handle living with the dead. Determined to save Stella and Bronte from the fate that befell their last haunting, Oliver and Cyril must find a way to prevent their perceptions from deepening. But when the two ghosts encounter a dark creature unlike any they've seen before, they might have to rethink their plan. The two girls might be the key to saving their afterlives. Not to mention themselves.
