It's been 18 years since Jane Hopper closed the gates to the upside down. Ever since that day in 1984, everyone in the town of Hawkins, Indiana has moved on with their lives. Each one trying to forget about the people they lost and the unspeakable things they saw during that one summer.

Nancy and Jonathan broke up the summer before college. Then, Nancy headed off to study education at the University of Indiana. She went on to become Hawkins High School's main English Teacher. 

Jonathan went off to the college of his dreams: NYU. Jonathan's photographs went viral quick and he soon became a well-known photographer in New York City after graduating college. 

The boys stay stayed near Hawkins always waiting for the gate to open again. This time, they will be ready. In the meantime, Dustin and Will have found new relationships and Mike and Lucas still have Jane and Max in their lives. 

Steve Harrington never left Hawkins. He met a girl that moved from Tennessee and immediately fell in love. Will their wedding be the driving force to reunite the gang?
