Teion is the princess of the kingdom of Naraam. In five months, she is destined to be crowned queen at age 21.  On top of all the stress caused by her studies, a string of unusual murders begins. After searches prove effortless, Caius, the captain of the royal guard and also her best friend, loses nights of sleep to nightmares about the uncaptured culprit. Finally the villain reveals himself to them. He takes over Teion's beloved kingdom, kidnapping or killing anyone she cares for. She and Caius escape and start their hunt for allies. Through her journey she learns about what it takes to be a ruler, how to accept grief,  her family's past, and even her own feelings.
