"I pictured the planet in my mind's eye, and reached out for it with my heart. With one step forward, we Phazed onto soft dirt and an ashy sky. My lungs felt violated the moment I inhaled. Both Boss-Man and I sneezed, our Universal Flu Shot kicking in to allow us to adapt to any planets environment."

Moira King, a Phazer, and her faithful companion Boss-Man- who can change into any cat in the feline family- live in the megacity of The Center of the Universe with millions of other fellow Phazer's; beings who can travel between worlds but need Dark Sand to do so. The only drawback of Dark Sand; Phazer's can either overdose or die from running out. Moira offers to investigate a distant planet after her dealer stops receiving his supply of Sand.
