FINAL SHORT STORY ASSIGNMENT FROM CREATIVE WRITING
"I pictured the planet in my mind's eye, and reached out for it with my heart. With one step forward, we Phazed onto soft dirt and an ashy sky. My lungs felt violated the moment I inhaled. Both Boss-Man and I sneezed, our Universal Flu Shot kicking in to allow us to adapt to any planets environment."

Moira King, a Phazer, and her faithful companion Boss-Man- who can change into any cat in the feline family- live in the megacity of The Center of the Universe with millions of other fellow Phazer's; beings who can travel between worlds but need Dark Sand to do so. The only drawback of Dark Sand; Phazer's can either overdose or die from running out. Moira offers to investigate a distant planet after her dealer stops receiving his supply of Sand.All Rights Reserved

Now I have to finish by May 5th. I'm not as far along as I had hoped at this point, but I'm sure I can make it. May 4th. 12:10 am. Finished. Submitted. Good night. May 20th. Well, 13 Points made the Long List. I have no idea how many original entries there were but about 940 made the first cut. There's 150 on the Long List. Not bad for my first time out. Now we'll wait and see how we fare on the Short List. May 30th. Well, Sarah and company didn't make the Short List. I can't say I'm disappointed though. For some reason, instead of screaming, I stay silent. She smiles and pulls out a chair from the kitchen table for me to sit on. When I don't sit, she says, "If you want to know what's going on, then sit." I think about it for a moment. She hasn't hurt me yet, and I have to admit, I am quite curious as to what's going on.
