Mi-Ra is ordinary, her family is normal, well as normal as one can be considering your mother just passed away a few years ago.
Her dead mother's necklace leads her on a trip into another world, through the bottom of the Lake owned by her family.
There she goes through trials and hardships as the only human and Soul Tear in that world, not to mention; she still has to deal with life in her home world. Vampires, elves, vampire elves?, wolves, witches, fairies, mermaids, shape shifters, dragons and more. All the males are out to get her, the only people she can trust are the High priestess and her two granddaughters...or can she?
