This is my fan fic for the YA 80's series called The Secret of the Unicorn Queen which were written by Josepha Sherman, Gwen Hansen, Dory Perlman,  and Suzanne Weyn.

From the back cover: When her eccentric friend Dr. Reit invents a machine that acts as a portal to another dimension, Sheila McCarthy accidentally falls through and finds herself in the kingdom of Arren. There, Sheila befriends a band of warrior-women. Astride unicorns, they gallop toward a dazzling city made of marble. But will they arrive in time to stop the evil king and his wicked wizard henchman from carrying out their deadly plans? And will Sheila ever be able to return home?

Well, Sheila did go home but the story didn't end there.
The hope of ever getting back to the world of Arren is all but lost to a now adult Sheila, after learning that her beloved Dr. Riet has passed away. The magic she once wielded and the friends she made will only ever be visited in her memories.  Or can they?

All grown up with a teenage daughter of her own, Sheila begins to notice weird things happening around her. At first she shrugs them off as coincidence, until the dreams begin. In them, her unicorn warrior friends beg for her help. The boy who was her first love is missing, impossibly captured by an age old enemy. Even if Sheila could somehow help them, she'd stuck in her dimension--but what if she could go back? Would she risk leaving her daughter behind?

Sixteen year old Daryn finds herself all alone when her mother suddenly vanishes in the middle of the night. With no explanation. No note. No reason for her to have run off. But that's not even the strangest  part. Suddenly she's been having crazy dreams depicting the made up stories of her childhood. Dreams that are so  real, they have her  questioning everything she thought she knew about her eccentric mother. This is my [fan-made] take on what happens after the events of the movie/film (Not intended to be official sequel). In this story, as the unicorns return to their homes, and the last unicorn (The Lady Amalthea) returns to her lilac woods, danger lurks on the other end of the Earth. For the Red Bull has freed himself from the sea that was holding him captive after the unicorn defeated him. Now, without a master to give him directions, he did not have his eyes set on all unicorns. Instead, he was dead set on finding one, who was the unicorn who conquered him, and drove him into the sea that once held the other unicorns. Knowing of the danger as well, Schmendrick the magician and Molly Grue hurried to find the unicorn in her forest, and take her on yet another journey, in hopes of finding her safety. The road will not be that easy for the unicorn, however, as she will face great challenges along the road to freedom/safety. As she travels the path to the supposedly safe kingdom, the unicorn spends every waking minute afraid, her mind racing, as she knows the Bull is hot on her heels.
