Caleb is a young Omega wolf shifter. After running from an arranged mating, he meets Shifter bounty hunter Rhys and the two fall in love. Life together could be good, if not for the fact that Caleb and Rhys had illegally mated and now his Alpha, Seth Bowden, is hunting them. Rhys decides the only safe place for them now is in his home pack and under the protection of his older brother, and pack Alpha, Quinton. With his omega at his side, Rhys heads home but luck is not on their side as Caleb suddenly goes into labor, forcing them to take refuge in a small motel and right out in the open where Bowden's betas spot them. Now Caleb and Rhys are on the run with a new born and Seth Bowden's men are closing in.
As they near the border of Black River pack lands, Bowden's betas force the family off the road, crashing into a tree. Rhys urges Caleb to take the pup and run. Caleb reaches the main gate but Rhys is no where to be seen. Begging Black River for help, Caleb is instead captured as a spy and taken in for questioning. Separated from his mate and his pup, Caleb is thrown into a nightmare he can't seem to escape. Bowden wants him returned and now he's being held by a new Alpha that hates him and wants him dead.
With the help of an unlikely ally, Caleb must face an uncertain future, fight to protect himself and his pup, and find his place in a world that has shown him only cruelty and pain. Will Caleb be able to overcome the fears and learn to love again, or will the ghosts of his past forever haunt him?
