Trying to make ends meet in a new country alone, Alex decides to treat herself to a good book and a cup of artisan coffee. She meets Cameron hurling insults in the bookstore. He apologizes by treating her to a cup of Joe. They eventually become friends and somehow something more. But Cameron isn't who he seems to be, and Alex is still haunted by her past.
