When Ragnar finally returned, after ten years, he took someone with him to Kattegat. The young Bjarke was brought up by Ragnar during those ten years. She would be better than his sons in some ways. She would help them rule. Ragnar knew that his sons would need her when he was gone and he knew she would succeed in her mission.
