Aquila is a 15-year-old vietnamese-Dominican teen living in British Columbia, Canada. Her life is somewhat stable until the worst thing possible happens. Her father turns her and Aquilas mother in for drug use, and abandons the family. Aquila is automatically sent to a group home. No phones, no music, no leaving the house. Straight up restriction. Aquila and her brother have to make it through the system, until they can finally go to a foster home, or with a family member. But within her group homes, she meets Sage, a 16 year old Black and Gitxsan Native girl. They grow close, letting a romance unfold, but a rocky path lay in the future, and they must get through it together.

Lotus is about balance in life, relationships and beliefs. Maintaining a peaceful mindset and using nature as your remedy is important, whilst like a lotus, you drift down a stream of life with the flower you love.
