Lola Francesco is just a fisherman's daughter. That's it. She loves the sea, the water, everything aquatic. What she hates? Fire. Recurring nightmares, constant memories, and suffocating reminders cause Lola to hate fire with a fervor. But when the secret behind superhero's powers is revealed, and a nuclear shockwave sweeps the nation, leaving a dozen teenagers stuck with powers they are unfit to wield, Lola finds herself among the lucky-or unlucky- few.
Stuck with powers she struggles to control, Lola journeys far and wide to rid herself of the burden of fire, before it consumes her. But along the way, Lola meets new foes, unlikely allies, and a talking lizard, who just might convince her that powers aren't a burden, and should be used to help, instead of discarded and thrown away.
