In the busy, lively streets of New York City, dark secrets hide from the street lights. A danger has been released into the world, and the protector is already in position and ready for when the threat reaches the surface. But who is the protector, and where are they?
Some say that the criminals are the villains, and that the saviors are the heroes; but that ends up being switched around when a notorious criminal, who goes by the name Nero, comes around the city, with a Royal Devil named Demogorgan intent on catching and cleansing the world of the said "villain"- and anyone who stands in his way or protects his prey.
Meanwhile, a young girl, named Patience Quill, is finally being accepted into the agency her father works in, called Heroes Among Us- H.A.U. for short. When she's finally accepted into the agency's ranks, she finds herself partnered to and the apprentice of no other than the same criminal Demogorgan wants so badly by an ancient bonding force.
When secrets and mysteries come to light, and when Demogorgan has had enough of Nero's escapes and close-calls, will anybody make it out alive? Or will the world that Nero has been actively attempting to protect come to be like DownUnder- the world that he grew up in and escaped from?

I can't keep the smile off my face as I take my seat on the plane. I slide my bag under the seat and lean back. I close my eyes and let a blissful smile grace my face. It was a normal day before everything went up in flames.
