Broken Lights

So many things can happen in one's day to day activities.

So many good things can happen; someone can win the lottery, a child can be born to a couple who have been trying for months to start a family, a birthday can occur, long lost family can finally find each other, and two people can fall in love.

However, for as long as there's positives in the world, there's bound to be negatives waiting just around the corner; someone can have everything they own stolen, a fire can start, someone can pass away, someone can get sick, and friends can suddenly become enemies.

For one group of close high school friends, it was just any other day when their positive world goes dark. When one of the friends is suddenly rushed to the hospital after coughing up blood in the middle of class, he is diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer caused by secondhand smoke, a result of his father constantly smoking around him and in his house. As the friends try to process this grim information and the possibility that their friend might not live to see his birthday the upcoming year, tensions and emotions continue to rise as each day their friend seems to get worse. They are unable to do anything about it, and it is tearing them up inside... and tearing the friendship that their friend had created apart.

Will the group be able to come to terms with the grim reality and be with their friend in his final moments, or will grief, confusion, and anger cause them to drift apart... for good?
