"Pretty names hide pretty secrets," Ashton said whilst looking out the car window. "And in this town most secrets turn out to be deadly." After moving from London to Rose Hill, Ella Redfern learns that small towns hold big secrets. Within the first week of her arrival kids start going missing. Everyone suspects local trouble maker Stuart Kelley, but Ella can't shake the feeling that he's innocent. With so many unusual people in a single town the detective in Ella awakens. She meets the strange old man who owns the candy store down town, Mr Wink, and instantly her suspicions are alert. Above all that, there is school, which proves to be more challenging than she expected. A guy destined for trouble and crazy enough to help her with her detective work, also remains a mystery. Can Ella unravel all the secrets in time?

In the picturesque town of Oak Point, where gossip spreads faster than wildfire and secrets are currency, high school senior Riley Moore has spent years obsessing over true crime. She listens to murder podcasts, watches every documentary, and keeps a notebook filled with unsolved cases. But when a real murder lands right in her backyard, she finally gets the chance to put her knowledge to the test. The town's star athlete and all around jerk, Jace Hunter, is found dead in a way that is so bizarre, so brutal, that it stuns everyone. The police call it a tragic accident, but Riley knows better. There are too many inconsistencies. The way the body was found, the odd alibis, the eerie social media posts before the murder-it all screams foul play. Determined to uncover the truth, she dives headfirst into the case, convinced she can solve it before the cops do. But the deeper she digs, the darker the town's secrets become. Every suspect has a motive. Every clue leads to a new twist. And just when she thinks she's getting close-someone else turns up dead. The real killer is watching. They know she's getting too close. And if she doesn't stop... she might be next.
