Emma Baker has lived with her uncle for as long as she can remember. He abuses her both physically and mentally. She's gotten use to it; she had to. No one was gonna help her because no one cared. Her crying and screams gave him pleasure so she did the one thing a 5 year old could think of: she stopped talking. Her uncle told her her entire life that her parents abandoned her and that she should be grateful that he even lets her live under his roof.

What she doesn't know is that her family lived right behind her house. Her parents have been grieving her 'death' every since they were told she was dead. By her uncle no doubt. Shocking? Nope not really.
After finally being allowed to attend a school for the first time since she can remember she encountered her siblings, but she didn't know who they were.

Will they remember her? Do they even know who Emma is? What will save the poor princess from the tower and her evil stepfather/uncle?

Here are a few questions I am constantly asked: 'Do I do well in school?' No, are you kidding me? The only subject I'm good at is Visual Arts. 'Do I have a kind and caring family?' No, I don't think I do. 'Do I have anyone who cares about me?' No, I'm a loner and socially awkward. 'Do I have privileges?' No, if you haven't understood the message yet, I live in an abusive household. Now, you might ask if there are any questions the answer is yes. I'll give you some. 'Do I want to die?' Yes, I sometimes do. 'Do I feel alone in this world?' Yes, always. 'Do I get a beating every day?' Yes. *** This is Amara Williams, a 13 year-old with average grades and no friends.
