This is a story about love, relationships, toxicity, recovery, and hope. In this story we will delve into the reality of abusive relationships at their core. Discussions will be had about what it's really like living in a hell like no other ever imagined. Something which will make the devil look like a kind soul. Welcome to my story.

Love. As 'beautiful' as love can be it hurts and bleeds. If you're unlucky you may even love the very person you know you can't have. The best friend, The distant boyfriend, The sisters friend, The brothers friend, The ex best friend, Love isn't always given back the way you gave it. Leaving you with half a heart as the person you gave your half too never gave you their half back. But what if someone else has another half to make yours whole again?

Do you ever wonder what life would be like if it were a movie? Or some sappy romance novel that you wish your life could be like but it's not? Sometimes you may even get to caught up in the fictional world that you don't realise it IS fictional. Then when you do realise life isn't what you convinced yourself it would be, there is only one possible outcome. Depression. Which may lead to anxiety, self-harm, low self esteem, and worst of all, losing the people you love. Life works in weird ways. Not just for you but for others too. Take Cassidy Rivers for example. Her life is far from perfect. No parents, over protective big brother, few friends, and Asher Norman, the bad boy who won't stop picking on her. Could life get any worse for Cassidy?

Trapped. Surrounded on all sides by an overpowering barrier visible only to you. A barrier consisting of your thoughts, your dreams, your hopes, separating you from the rest of the world. Thoughts struggling to escape, the memories vivid in your head. You're trying to push back the flood of emotion, trying to break down that wall that's separating you from the judgement that awaits you at the other side. Your fears captivate you and morph you into a new person entirely. Surrounded on all sides and breaking into cold perspiration. Enveloping you is that same fear, gripping at your heart. You stand still hoping for the storm to back down, hoping for another chance. Sooner or later you're faced with reality and you'll know there's no turning back. All that remains is a whisper of silence.

It was simple. He was my brother's ex-bestfriend and now enemy. I was supposed to stay away from him. I was supposed to be loyal to my brother and avoid him. I was supposed to be the good little sister I was and follow my brother's rules. It was simple yet so hard when the guy I was supposed to be avoiding was being possessive and always watching me. Yet somehow I managed to keep everything together. I kept my secret admirer from my over-protective brother and I remained focus on getting into college. I didn't expect it to happen so fast. But then it all came crashing down in pieces...

Drama. Drama. Drama. That pretty much describes my life. I mean when your living with your 7 older brothers, 5 cousins, best friends, and a 3 month old baby, life can't get any better! And then there's school. Well school is school. Loaded with a the different 'groups' of kids. The geeks, popular, etc. And last but not least, my parents. We don't even know where they are most the time since they go on business trips after business trips. They come for for a week at the most and leave again. My family is not rich, but not poor. We have more than enough money to get the nice things we want, but we have to earn them. My life sounds pretty interesting huh?

There are a lot of things you don't really think about until they happen to you. Take rape, for instance. I always thought, "That won't happen to me. I have a boyfriend. I trust him. He would never take advantage of me like that..." I couldn't have been more wrong. Love in this day and age is often confused for manipulation and abuse. The warning signs are here. The things we say will tell us everything that is wrong. You are worth more than what you think you are. It's not your fault. If they tell you otherwise, get out. Burn the bridge. Always remember someone is waiting for you to walk into their life. Someone needs you. Someone loves you. Getting away from all of the wrong people and finding the right ones could save you. I can promise you right now that it saved me. These are the journal entries and selected poems from my first experience of love that left a unpleasant taste in my mouth- quite literally. I am putting this out for the whole world to see because I hope everyone will learn from my experience. People can see. We have no excuses to continue living our lives in ignorance. ...WARNING... * IN THE PROCESS OF BEING EDITED/UPDATED * Madison has dealt with abuse and heart ache her whole life thinking that it was what she deserved. First her parents then her boyfriend. When her older brother left for college on bad terms with their parents things started to get worse. Her older brother never knew of the way their parents treated her, not even after the car accident that ended their parents' lives and left Madison scarred. Three years later and two years into an abusive relationship with her boyfriend an acceptance letter that will change Madison's entire life arrives in the mail. Madison gives her brother a call for the first time since their parent's funeral. When her brother tells her to come stay with him she never thought this one phone call would change her life forever and new friends would be waiting as well as her brother's asshole best friend.
