Growing up with an average family sounds good. It sounds as if it comes with minimal problems. Yes., but growing up black with an average family, in a white neighborhood comes with many struggles. Being raised in Capitol Hill Washington DC is decent. It's quiet and nice. Plus, you get access to things which people outside of Hills don't. 18-year-old Rue Jackson still gets a lot of dirty looks from others because of her skin color. When she finds a flyer at the store for a spot on a dance team at The Art Institutes, she hopes her skin color can be put aside and her skills can be noticed.

17 year old Devyn Wright is the average girl but then again she's not. She's mixed with black and white and she has a love-hate relationship with being mixed. She hates that she even has black blood in her but she loves that her light-skin makes her "better" than all others. But she's very much wrong. She begins to realize how fake her life and mindset is when she meets the king of fighting, Kyrie Johnson. Whoever knew that someone could completely revers you. The reversing is worth it too! Only if she learns to never stop being herself.
