Sixteen-year-old Anise Carter is a plain and simple human being. She goes to school, watches t.v., and reads books. The problem is that she doesn't talk, literally. Anise is a mute girl who refuses to interact with people, and is slowly starting to close herself from reality. Then one day she meets Ian Grant, a bright optimistic boy whom she bumped into in the hallway. After coincidentally meeting with Ian a second time, he suddenly decides to become Anise's best friend and try to convince her that life isn't all that bad! How will Anise tolerate this boy who decides to interfere with her life? If you're into troubled teens and bothersome boys, i suggest this story.
