The Extraordinaries

Only a month ago, Elise and Annie were living the dream at the Hawthorne Studio, part of a world-renowned performing group rumoured to change the way its audiences see the world. Now, the Studio has burnt down and Elise and Annie are the only ones left. They spend their days trekking back and forth between the store and their new home, pretending they're just like everyone else- Ordinaries, as they call it. But when Elise makes a confession to Annie, they are reminded that they were not born to be like everyone else. They'll continue to be stuck between two worlds unless they go back to performing.

But in order to perform, Elise and Annie must find Keaton, a girl who left the Studio years ago without word. As the two girls search for and reconnect with the only other person in the world who understands the things they do, they must come to understand the truths that make them who they are and the secret Elise has finally spilled after years of silence.

Written in both present time and in flashbacks, some about Keaton's choice to leave the studio, and others about young woman named Emilie who struggles with feelings that mark her as "different," this book tells the story of being different because of things you hold inside of you, and the choice between concealing your true self and letting the world learn your secrets.
