Aphrodite (/æfrəˈdaɪti/ ( listen) af-rə-DY-tee; Greek: Ἀφροδίτη Aphrodite) is the ancient Greek goddess of love, beauty, pleasure, and procreation. She is identified with the planet Venus, which is named after the Roman goddess Venus, with whom Aphrodite was extensively syncretized.

In that first dawn of the world, when rivers yet had voices and the air was thick with the breath of creation, Euthalia-gentlest of the Oceanids-kept to her mossy grottoes and secret springs, coaxing blossoms from stone with her silver jug of enchanted waters. She was beloved by gods and mortals alike, a quiet guardian of renewal who each year led Persephone from the shadowed realm to greet the sunlit earth. Yet now, curiosity and love awaken within her after meeting a mortal man. Torn between wisdom and desire, she must choose whether to follow her mind or her heart-knowing that either path could alter the course of her eternal spring.
