❝ you don't look like the type to be a convict. care to enlighten me on how you got into a place like this, brown eyes? ❞
a fire of fury and hatred smoldered in my gaze as a sharp snarl escaped my lips.
❝ murder, you dumbass. i was convicted of murder. ❞
his expression didn't falter. if anything, his eyes gleamed with something disturbingly close to amusement. he took a slow step forward, his smirk only growing, a maddening contrast to the sharpness of his godlike features.
❝ how cute. didn't take you for someone who could wield a knife. ❞
i fixed him with a deadly glare, every muscle in my body tensed with warning.
❝ i'm getting the feeling you want to be next. i can show you, angel, and trust me-once i do, it won't be pretty. ❞
he was right in front of me now, close enough that i could hear his steady, unshaken breathing. i braced myself for whatever arrogant remark would follow, already picturing the way my blade would look pressed against his throat.
but instead, he simply tilted his head, his voice dropping to a husky murmur.
❝ that's hot. ❞
my breath hitched, and against my will, heat crawled up my cheeks.
damn it.
