Katie McMillan relied on silence and sign language the same way she would rely on air and water. She wasn't mute, she wasn't deaf. She was just so riddled with anxiety and fear 24/7 that she could never bring herself to speak. To hear her speak would be like seeing a quadruple rainbow after finding a six leaf clover. She only ever spoke in dire situations, which was not often.
She was with the group since the very beginning in Atlanta. When the group got together and set up camp at the quarry, she never left Amy's side. She was her only friend there, the only one she would ever whisper to when she needed something.
When everything started going downhill with the new addition of Rick Grimes and the death of Amy, she became more silent and closed off than usual. She no longer had someone to sit with in silence, she no longer had someone to talk to when her anxiety got bad.
She felt alone in the large group.
But maybe someone would be able to bring her out of her shell and make her stronger?

Shawn Walsh... For someone who was the son of a cop, he didn't exactly play by the rules, he was a uncontrollable force like a hurricane, a tornado...a tsunami. But when he got older it became a rumble in the ground, so strong it split the earth in half, the winds became a storm of whipping winds that destroyed houses and ripped the trees from the ground...and the wave Became huge, so high that it reached roofs and touched the skies. Of course Shawn wasn't always like that...but Shane wasn't exactly the best father, he was cold towards Shawn, ignoring him and acting as if he didn't exist. Shawn knew why, it was because Shane didn't want him, he wanted to be with Lori and Carl... though, Shawn was the aftermath of Lori and Shane when they were teenagers, Shane still wanted Lori and her other son who she had with Rick Grimes...the man who Shawn thought of as a father. Apart from some of the arguments that'll break out but you can only expect that when strangers take shelter together. Y/n was a survivor of the city, brought in by Glenn. You were thankful for the kindness from the stranger but the same behavior wasnt shared from the rest of the group. Supplies are tight and tension gets high everytime a newcomer is brought in. The Dixon brothers dont miss a beat to make sure and cause a scene, going on and on about supplies and how thin we are stretched. The speeches have droned on but no one listens to them, especially when they come from a couple hillbillies. Days went by the same, hardly any words spoken your direction unless it was snarky comment or small talk from Glenn. Changes started taking place when a fellow named Rick Grimes showed up.Complete
