Wysteria

One winter night, Lauren and her family traveled back to their old Victorian house in Illinois, in hopes of getting a much needed vacation from the bustling metropolis that was their life. Back in her hometown, Lauren rekindles old friendships with Javi and Veronica, and together they revisit their old hangout spots: abandoned and overgrown playgrounds, the town movie theater, and the study in which Lauren's grandmother used to write inked letters. Here, the three friends stumble upon the mystery of an age-old book Wysteria, dusted from ages of stagnation and sitting in the antique bookshelf in Lauren's old Victorian house. They pour over the arcane language and hidden messages, making it a game to practice them aloud, pretending to be sorcerers. But as the riddles come to life before the sixteen-year-olds' eyes, it becomes anything but a game. On March 18, 2017, iridescent pupils stared back at Lauren's own auburn ones, as a fairy-looking creature, pint-sized and with a pixie cut, all but emerged from the vintage pages of Wysteria.
