Vincent James Edwards stood in front of the wooden preach podium with clutched hands behind his back. Never in his life for the twenty years he had been on this earth, would he have expected this devious fate to cross his path. Arranged marriage? Forced inheritance? It angered him up to the point to complete bitterness. ******* Margaret stiffened next to her father, her fate would soon be sealed. They entered, she acknowledged every passing face but when she saw him, she suddenly felt like she would faint any minute. Margaret couldn't hear anything else but her own heartbeat. Those eyes, such a deep frightening blue, took her breath away. Yet she had fallen in love before any of these thoughts could have risen on the surface. ******* A Short Story from the 19th century. American man-Indian girl Arranged marriage love story Story in single line: Not a love marriage but love after marriage Anu's a girl who'd never been loved before and still hoping that someone will love her and be her first, one, and only love of her life. But sometimes this universe won't give what we were praying for. sometimes it gives better than what we wanted and sometimes it gives worse than we'd ever expected it'd be. And what this universe was waiting to give to Anu? The better version or the worse? He stared at me with a confused look for a minute. "Go ahead," he said eagerly waiting for me to speak, when he said that, my gaze was lifted from the floor and landed on his eyes. God! Kill me! His eye was deep blue as the sea. "Will you please stop this arrangement?" I said staring into his eye. "I'm not ready to get married." When I said that he clenched his fist but when I saw that he freed his clenched fist. "I'm sorry. I didn't have any guts to say this to my family. So will you please say 'no' to this engagement and make up any reason you want, I won't say a thing. Please?" I requested. If he said no and save her she'd still have time to find her fine, one, true, first love. Will he say NO to his parents and save her? Published on March 9th 2021 Words [50000 - 65000] [Unedited]
