"There is so much at stake that I'm afraid to lose, I'm not sure I can handle it if I fail," I say, the emotions inside of me twisting and turning, readying themselves to be used but warm hands encased mine, forcing me to hold them back. "There is a reason we all follow you. Not because you're the greatest leader, but because you know you're not. You make mistakes, you learn and you love. There is a war inside you that is beautifully controlled, but now, it's time to set it free. You are not just anybody, you are a fighter, a friend, a leader. . . tell me who you are." Suddenly, newfound confidence washed over me, my shoulders straightened, a smile spread across my lips and I answered, "I am Athena." ---------- Freed from an institute that used people like her for their own selfish gain, Athena took it upon herself to reinvent the place that once brought her so much pain and suffering. She is now the leader of this new Aeterian facility, taking in powered people like her, growing in numbers and trying to live the way they've wanted to for so many years, but as usual, nothing great lasts forever. When a new enemy threatens to destroy all supernaturals including the aeteri, Athena sets out to form werewolf alliances and find a way to stop whatever plans her enemies have in store, but it won't be easy. With secrets being brought into the light, her people who count on her, an ability that is unpredictable and the arrival of a man she thought she long since lost feelings for, Athena no longer controls what she once thought she did- herself. To gain back control, she needs to trust the wolves and make the right decision for her people. There is a war inside her that she has kept at bay for so long, in order to win she knows that war must be set free and god help those that stand in her line of fire. ********** An Aeterian Story- Second Book Book Order: 1. Achilles&Briseis: A Novel by AvatarAshdel
49 parts Ongoing
Briseis of Pedasus is a princess with a dual fate. She is the daughter of an unknown goddess and a king obsessed with legacy. A legacy Briseis is unable to continue, much to her father's dismay. As the Trojan War begins, Briseis accepts a quest to kill a man in the name of a goddess who wants glory, and if Briseis succeeds, the curse upon her house will be reversed. This is a story of parents and children, love and hate, hope and dismay as characters question if it's impossible to change the fates which have been decreed for them. AUTHOR TAKING A BREAK FROM THIS STORY WILL GET BACK TO IT IN LATE SUMMER OF 2025 This is the first draft of this story. I participated in the Wattpad Bootcamp Mentorship Program which pairs mentees with mentors to work on a story of the mentee's choosing. This is the story I worked on with my mentor and it contains none of the changes which will be in the final draft. I hope you enjoy reading this first version : ) and I hope readers will be interested to read the final draft once it's finished. A deeper dive into the classic love story of the Trojan War, based on the poem I wrote also called Achilles&Briseis. The poem can be found on my profile if you would like to read it. The poem contains some spoilers for story lines that will appear in the novel. I feel compelled to say this story will not be a traditional retelling of the Iliad. This story is going to be something new among the conflicts we all know well from many years of the Iliad being told. If you are looking for a story more in keeping with the original poem, this is not that story. Many things will be changed, many things will be unfamiliar, and we are going somewhere no story of the Trojan War has gone before. If you see this story anywhere besides Wattpad please make me aware. This is the only place I post stories. I don't have multiple accounts on this site, so this is the only profile this story should be posted on. Thank you, readers.
The Centurion's Woman by FliederAmanda
107 parts Complete Mature
Alexandria "Alex" Moldovan fell asleep at a work retreat and woke up in the same place, just not in the right time. The situation improves when she's inadvertently rescued by a Roman Centurion, and as long as she can keep her wits - and his affections - she might just survive this. But trading one slave class for another doesn't help with the trouble that always seems to find her... Ixillius Traversi had been leading his century on a routine razing, but the slave he found imprisoned, injured and starved in the village is anything but typical. That she was alive seemed barely possible, and then she'd saved his life... and she wasn't afraid of him. He claimed the woman who called herself Alex as his slave, be it a curse or a blessing, but he still needs to know one thing: who is she? The Centurion's Woman is set in Germania Inferior circa 5 AD, and Maiden discovers that a two thousand year culture shock may be the easiest problem to overcome, but it won't be the last... Trigger Warnings: beatings / abuse (people and animals), starvation, battle, blood, sex Please note: This story's historical elements are based on the research I did as a writer; I'm not a historian. "Maiden" is Book 1, "Warrior" is Book 2, and "Scholar" is Book 3 of my Historical Fiction trilogy, an adult romance titled "The Centurion's Woman", published through FriesenPress. Most of you know the story of Troy. How Paris fell in love with Helen, the woman who set sail to a thousand ships. But what about the common people. Elpis was not originally from Troy, taken by force from her home, her life had taken on a new form. That of a slave, born free, and enforced into a life she had not chosen. Only with the coming storm would help Elpis understand how her new place in life could help her to survive. Or will it seal her fate. A fate that everyone believed the Gods had already mapped out for them. AN - This book has been edited, I would appreciate it if you could find anything that needs looking at that may have been missed. Complete book.
