Kristina lives in a world that is new to her 14 year old self. At dusk and dawn the Sensors come out, it's a world where night time seems to lasts forever and the only "safe time" that they have is for 2 hours. Kristina is trying to escape her world and get to the other side of the world. And she meets a boy on the way.

Luna's life isn't exactly 'normal' her parents are people you would call sorcerers. They don't belong in the normal human world but the world they once lived has been taken over by the Darkness and is unsafe for young children. When Luna turns 16 she is to cross to this world to not return until she decides to have kids of her own.
