Melanie Westwood was good at avoidance. Avoiding parties because she didn't know how to talk to people anymore. Avoiding Steve Harrington and his idiot friends. Avoiding mirrors until she finally dyed her hair because they looked so similar and that hurt. Avoiding her own dad because neither one knew how to look at the other without a hole opening up in their chest. Working at Emerald City Comics gave her somewhere to hide. She didn't have to think about anything other than comic books, prop replicas, and her favorite group of nerds. Wheeler, Byers, Henderson and Sinclair hadn't known her before Emerald City, and Mel liked it that way. She would set aside their comics, and they would tell her about their latest D&D campaign. It was nice. It was easy. Until Will Byers went missing. There was suddenly a second hole in her chest, and she wasn't sure she'd survive this one. The search for Will Byers dragged Melanie Westwood into something dangerous. Something was hiding beneath the surface of Hawkins, something she wouldn't be able to avoid if she tried. started: 6/11/2025 eventual Steve Harrington x OC because Mama Steve deserves love only marked mature for language and violence trigger warnings listed inside title comes from the album "Glorious Results of a Misspent Youth" by Joan Jett & The Blackhearts The cover image was borrowed from Pinterest, so I don't know who the original credit belongs to, but it is not mine I do not own the rights to Stranger Things or any of its associated licenses
