"How many romance books do you read?" Devin asks me. I shrug. "I like them," I say. I keep browsing, running my fingers along the spines. "So, you like romance then?" he asks me. I nod. The year is 1986 and Mallory ended her summer by moving to Los Angeles, California and she has made two new friends Joanna and Cameron. Joanna is always busy and has something to do. Cameron on the other hand is always free and needs something to do. Mallory and Cameron become especially close friends. School is around the corner as well. Edit 10/11/2025: I just reposted this so I could look back on this. It's a fond memory of my childhood that I hold dearly. Though it's cringe, I look back at it and it mattered to my 6th grade self. I loved the 80s and this was my passion and my expression of creativity then. I can't judge myself for that :)
