Sophia Carstairs, the younger twin sister of James Carstairs. She was at the Shanghai Institute when it was attacked by a Greater Demon. It took to torturing the twins in front of their parents until their mother and father were killed. Other Shadowhunters arrived and saved them, but the damage was done. James was afflicted with an addiction to yin fen, while his sister was made mute.
After the killing at the Shanghai Institute, James and Sophia arrive at the London Institute to the warm welcome of Charlotte Fairchild, and soon to be Branwell, and her fiancé Henry Branwell. The only other children at the institute is Jessamine Lovelace, a rather sour young girl obsessed with looks, and Will Herondale, the distant boy who seems to dislike everyone.
Will and James soon become close friends and parabatai. Sophia ignores the girlish ideas of Jessamine and fills her days spending time with her brother and the young man she fancies. She is looked down upon because she refuses to conform to the idea that society has put upon females. When Theresa Gray enters their lives, Sophia is soon to find out that her life could be so much worse than what it was already.
Author's Note: This story is dedicated to my little sister, Sophia. Sophia, if you are reading this, it means that you finally followed my footsteps and became a recluse like me and spend almost all your time on this god-forsaken website. It may seem like I hate you sometimes, but I don't really.

The young shadowhunter Aleksa Monteverde, called Leksi, finds herself in the academy in Idris after her parabatai Annabeth Kingsmill was killed by a demon. She gets to know the kind Blake Pangborn with whom she gets along pretty well and they immediately become friends. But next to Blake there is a mysterious boy named Elijah Blackthorn who seems to hate everything and everybody. Stuck between a friend and a love interest, Aleksa is confronted with even greater problems. The Council brings the charge against her, that she wasn't present, when Annabeth Kingsmill died. They blame Aleksa for her death. While Aleksa tries everything to get over the loss of her parabatai and to get back to the institute in Montreal, she has to struggle with the Council and them wanting her to visit the City of Bones until the hearing. But her new won friends help her and Aleksa soon finds out the real reason she was held out of the investigations considering Annabeth's death and sent to Idris. The story takes place in an imagined academy, mentioned in the TMI books by Cassie. Since I love academies I had to write about a story happening here. But the story also sets in various places over the world and reunites some familiar places from the TMI books with new impressions. New characters are introduced and also some old and well-known characters will appear during the happenings.Complete
