Beneath the light, there are shadows. 

Not everything is as it seems in New York City. After a mass shooting at a University Graduation Party, four people were kidnapped. 

Elizabeth- A 19-year-old male who has been struggling with depression and tried to kill himself on multiple occasions and cuts. He has a condition where his body can't regulate internal temperatures on its own, needing to take pills to solve the problem. Has one living family member- his brother Yulia - which he is deeply attached to due to their past.

Yulia- A 18-year-old male who is addicted to sweets. He saved his brother- Elizabeth -from committing suicide, and loves him deeply. He has a very curios mind. Has astraphobia.

Veronica- A 19-year-old female who is going for a major in Business. She comes from a strict family that always told her to do her job, and never fail. Has the phobia taphophobia. 

Hiro- A 20-year-old male who is still sorting his life out. Had an abusive father and mother that were arrested and charged for manslaughter after brutality killing one of his friends in front of their son. It still haunts him, causing him to have social anxiety and thinking less of himself. Tried to cut, friend encouraged him to stop. 

They have been spared by their kidnapper, but are forced to live under one rule: Follow directions and you will live. There are others in this 'bunker,' too. And they have lived under the rule of this "boss" a little too long. 

How will things change after the four newcomers arrive?

What will you do, when you have only 5 days left, before a dead-or-alive challenge happens? Rebecca is having a highly risky brain surgery next week. Time is extremely precious for her. Yet she chooses to finish reading a book, which is unfortunately mine. I am a failing writer whose stories go nowhere. There are still two more chapters to write for this book, but I am having a writer's block. I visit her in the hospital, and greatly inspired by her courage under the unfortunate circumstances. However, can I finish the book in time for her? I'll try my best. Once again, my mind flies back to the post-apocalypse world of my fiction, searching for a way to end the book properly... ...... This is an attempt to mix comedy with tragedy. Some content is quite heavy, like cancer, depression, sick patients...etc. So prepare a tissue, just in case. I wrote and posted the first 3 chapters 4 years ago, yet due to my stupidity and insensitivity, I lost a dear friend over this story, which I regretted deeply. The idea was first inspired by another friend, who gave me some first hand experience of a cancer patient. Can't thank her enough. It's totally my fault that this story was delayed for so long. It's simply too good to waste, and not fair for her priceless contribution. There are also various things inspired by different friends online, who once bared their souls to me. Sincerely appreciate their friendship. It has totally 8 chapters. Each one has about 2000 to 3000 words. Disclaimer: Everything here is fake, never happened and completely fabricated by my wild imagination. The story has nothing to do with Wattpad or any website, because seriously, nothing is real here. The floor was cement. We each had our own chairs. Dani had her baby blue chair with white roses in the upper right corner. Elizabeth had her pale pink chair with white daiseys in the lower right corner. Audrey had her yellow chair with white roses in the upper left corner. Taylor had her black chair with red roses in the lower left corner. I had a white chair with sunflowers that sat in the center, the very center of the room. Each of us had a light above our heads. There were no covers in the lights just the wires losely hanging with the light attached at the end. The front legs of all our chairs had buckles that when we sat down they were right where our ankles were like he knew just were to put them. There were buckles on our arm rests that when we laid are arms on them the buckels our wrist were in the perfect spot. I think its funny how we all never made the conecction." "What conecction would that be?" "That we all have brown hair, blue eyes, were 5'5, all weighed 130. That when you put the first letter of each of our names together it spells Death. I love how at one point we all thought something, right before we were taken. Dani thought she was going to get mail. Elizabeth thought she was picking up dinner. Audrey thought she was going to class. Taylor thought she was taking her dog for a walk and I thought I was going to marry him and that I loved him with all my heart."
