One of the most popular boys in school, it is socially expected that Ivar Soleil is happy but his true state of mind is far from this. His parents are always quarrelling with themselves and with him, mourning the loss of their perfect son and treating the other like he was dead too. Feeling misunderstood by everyone, he slowly numbs himself to his surroundings, following everything society expects from him except in his feelings towards Lila Evans. He has longed after her since the first day of high school but her icy beauty has him intimidated. Regardless he has watched her every move hoping for that perfect time when he could finally talk to her.

Fighting against socially accepted norms, Lila sees her life as a constant struggle. With constant pressure from her parent to leave school and a haunting nightmare that wakes her with screams every day, she feels as if she is reaching a breaking point.
