Wendell is a 16-year-old boy who lives and breathes in acting. Ever since he was seven, Wendell has gotten multiple important roles and plays within his local theatre.

When Wendell is invited to be in the opening act of a musical in a nearby city, he feels excited. He has heard that the theatre made their productions seem so real. During Rehearsal Wendell becomes so into the play that he gets trapped in the magical world. Scriptless, clueless, but thank god not hairless, Wendell explores the Wizard World and attempts to figure out the plot.
