Everyone has secrets, some worse, some better. Cynthia Park is considered a 'good girl' with nothing to hide, although she hides many secrets and promises she made with people in her life. She tries her hardest to keep a specific promise that she made with her mom before she died, to never show her true feelings. Sent to foster care, she spends 9 years of her life without any family.
