When Berit gets in a huge fight with her parents over money she runs away with the remaining money she has. She runs away to LA where she finds an ad with "roommate wanted" written all over it. Being newly 16 and homeless in LA she has no where to go but up. She goes to the house and is pleasantly surprised by the generosity of everyone who lives in this house. After being treated as if she was a disposable item all her life what does she have to lose.
