Night Disease
REVISED EDITION COMING OUT MONTHLY/COMPLETED In a world overrun by zombies, A single bite heralds doom, except for Kaindra, who defies death itself, being undead already. ******** As humanity struggles to adapt to the new reality of zombie-infested streets and lurking supernatural creatures from ancient myths and legends, survival becomes an ever-evolving challenge. Survival is a constant battle not only against the undead but also against supernatural creatures and their zealous followers. The relentless onslaught of zombies and the mysterious reemergence of mythical beings push society to its limits. Civilization's last bastions fall one by one, teetering on the brink of collapse. As these ancient myths awaken, they reveal intentions that are far from clear- some may hold the key to salvation, while others could herald further doom. The question remains: Can humanity unravel the mysteries of these legendary beings in time to save themselves, or will they fall prey to the very legends they once dismissed? ___ Excerpt: Taking a deep breath, I lean closer to the mirror, my skin prickling. I thought it was a trick of the light, but as I stare at my reflection, my fragile lies crumble away. The reflection staring back at me feels unrecognizable. My once deep, dark brown eyes now glimmer with an otherworldly light, like twin moons suspended in a sea of silver. The faint glow within them swirls softly, catching the dim flicker of flame I summoned, like ripples across a moonlit lake. Their alien intensity sends a chill down my spine. The orbs seemed to hold a universe within, depths of endless mysteries and ancient wisdom beyond my grasp. ___ Warning: Mentions of suicide and self-harm Beautiful cover made by @scmimi. Plagues
The year is 2047. It's been almost 35 years since the U.S. went over the Fiscal Cliff, indirectly leading to the world's first encounter with the undead. It's been roughly ten years since the spread of the infection was suppressed, thanks to the help of outside powers. The world is a poorer, rougher, stranger place: mandatory armed populations; shooting a zombie, more popularly known as a maniac, on the way to work is a part of life; anti-maniac training starting in childhood; and special armed divisions of the government specifically designed for enforcing laws surrounding undead encounters. For Al McDermot and his friends, growing up in this time is even harder, as they discover the virus the world supposedly had a handle on has mutated, unleashing a whole new, more dire and advanced threat. Old worries and conflicts come back to the surface in Al's hometown of Toronto and in the rest of North America, against the backdrop of an entire world in conflict. The best informed and the most talented tacticians survive, while the fate of those who aren't is no longer guaranteed by any cure or vaccine. It's no longer just an outbreak; it's war. EXCERPT FROM EMERGENCY, THE SEQUEL TO PLAGUES, AND THE SECOND INSTALLMENT IN WHAT WILL BE A FOUR PART SERIES, AT THE END OF THIS STORY.Complete
