Leo Thomas was a pessimistic insomniac trying to survive New Orleans. He didn't really care if he did anything more with his life because to him, having the guts to stay alive was a hefty feat in itself. And the key to his survival? That came in a lesson his mother had taught him when she'd left him, and that was to never dream. He hardly had that issue seeing as he rarely could fall asleep, but that was only the first part of the lesson. At the ripe age of thirteen, he'd learned not to dream of anything, not to hope for anything in life. That's was the only way to truly survive, to never desire anything more then what you had.

Unfortunately, it only took one trip to a coffee shop for his memory to lapse on his sacred golden rule to never dream. That's where it all changed for Leo, where he made a fatal flaw. He fell for a lonely girl with sad eyes, only to find she had already fallen for some else. Naturally, it all went down hill from there in the form of a war between vampires, werewolves, and witches.

If only Leo could have managed to keep himself from dreaming, both figuratively and literally. Then maybe he would've been able to keep surviving.
